Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is scoliosis, and how do I know if I have it?
Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine, often appearing during growth spurts in adolescence. Common signs include:
Uneven shoulders or waist
One hip higher than the other
Ribs protruding more on one side
Back pain or fatigue after standing/sitting
Book a 10-minute spine check to assess your risk.
2. What causes scoliosis? Is it genetic or preventable?
Most scoliosis cases (80%) are idiopathic (no single cause), but genetics play a role. While you can’t prevent scoliosis entirely, early detection and targeted exercises (like our 3D manual therapy and PSSE, alongside Schroth method techniques) can slow progression.
3. What are the best non-surgical treatments for scoliosis?
Our evidence-based non-surgical protocols at BREMJ | Scoliosis Treatment and Physio:
Restore spinal balance and alignment.
Strengthen your core and back muscles.
Improve flexibility and range of motion.
Reduce pain and discomfort.
Improve your overall well-being.
90% of our patients avoid surgery with consistent therapy. See our before/after gallery.
4. When is scoliosis surgery necessary, and what are the risks?
Surgery (spinal fusion) is only recommended for curves >50° or if lung/heart function is threatened. Risks include infection, reduced flexibility, and long recovery approximate (6–12 months).
Our pre-surgical rehab program helps patients strengthen muscles beforehand, cutting recovery time by 30%.
